Dr. Storts stays involved in rehabilitating baby squirrels and rescues ill or injured migrating and native seabirds. One of her favorite organizations is the Florida Wildlife Hospital in Melbourne. She is active with the Florida Veterinary Medical Association and the Brevard County Veterinary Medical Association.
At home, Dr. Storts and Gaby have a toy poodle named Frere Jacque. It’s hard for Dr. Storts to take a day off, so you will frequently see her wandering the clinic when she isn’t on duty. Her favorite place to go is Paris, France, to shop, sight-see, eat French food, sit in a sidewalk café and people-watch. Paris flea markets are the best places to shop; there are bargains galore, colorful characters and lively conversations en Francais. When she retires, that’s where she will be, with beret and scarf, sipping an afternoon café. But don’t expect that anytime soon, she plans to work until Gaby has finished veterinary school and taken over the family tradition!
